New To The Site I need help with the Photography

Tyler.. this confuses a number of people.

A JPEG file is already compressed.. so when you look at your JPEG file in Windows Explorer and see that it's 8MB, this is already compressed.

'JPEG' is essentially a compression algorithm (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPEG).

 

A lot of image editing software will have an option somewhere to show you the true size of the image
