Southpole
Does alamy search engine know if a image is black & white or is it from keywords ?
Armstrong
Not sure but the first result for Black and White is a colour photo! I would guess that it's done via some sort of image analysis. There's also the Colour Hex in the search options which must work in a similar way. There's no harm putting it in the keywords though. I wouldn't make it an essential keyword. John Mitchell
I put it in the key words, along with "monochrome." Have never licensed a black and white image through Alamy, though.
Allan Bell
I believe that customers will convert a colour image to monochrome (black/white) if they need to. Allan
Bryan
I've sold some B&W shots, all taken back in the 1960s./70s via the archival route. I always add B&W etc to the keywords. Not sure that it is worth translating colour to B&W, but, if you can see an opportunity that might not be obvious why not give it a try?
John Mitchell
I sometimes upload b&w versions if I think they look more striking than colour. Why not? Nothing to lose, really. P.S. Black and white images can do quite well on POD websites. I sell a b&w print now and then.
