It doesn't look like any Roman pot I've ever seen, the quality's very poor too- the Roman way of making pottery was lost in the Dark Ages. It's certainly no amphora. There's not too much wrong with the caption as-is. However Ana Margarida Arruda has taken the history of the area back to Phoenician times. But it doesn't look Phoenician either. You could try an email to Castro Marim- I found a contact on their website. Might need to polish up your Portuguese though.
