The man with the tie looks familiar to me. They are on a boat studying echo-sounding.

 

I'll do a close up of his face if it helps - sorry about the Copyright notice getting in the way.

 

Any ideas?

Any names on the machinery in the picture? Plessey? Marconi? Ferranti?

The photographer took this in 1962/3. He was chief scientific officer for ....

 

 

Kelvin & Hughes Ltd was liquidated in 1966 but the name was continued as Kelvin Hughes, a division of Smiths Group plc.

Now Hensoldt (UK) which we know from the prism finders on the Hasselblad SLRs or the  viewfinder on the SWC.

Others may know them for their binoculars or rifle scopes though.

 

No idea about the guy (scientist? politician?).
