Budget Laptop

Would love some suggestions on a laptop for around £500

Prefer new rather than refurbished

Will be running the usual suspects of LR and PS 

Smaller screen rather than larger-light as used on the road

Not editing masses of images at once but maybe a few hundred per batch of 24mb raw files and a bit of video from time to time

Still unsure of minimum spec

Appreciate your input

I have been loving my Microsoft Surface Pro 7.  It easily runs LR and PS.  Mine was around $700 US but I got it bundled with a keyboard and stylist pen.  It is super light weight too.  You may be able to find older models new for less.

Just some guidelines to look for would be:
Intel i7 processor
16gb ram
256gb or larger solid state hard drive
Video card better than stock GPU
I only use my laptop while traveling so I store photos on a portable hard drive and then move them to my desktop when i get home.  I couldn't edit 4K footage on my laptop until I installed an SSD.  Most gaming laptops will work fine and will not go obsolete on you in the near future.
