Ed Rooney
When shooting RAW stills, should I be using XAVC S or AVCHD file format? I accidentally changed some setting on my Sony a6000.
spacecadet
The setting won't have any effect- those are video formats. It doesn't matter for stills. But if you do shoot any video, it's probably best to stick to AVCHD, which is plain HD. XAVC is designed for 4k video. Don't go there until you need to. Ed Rooney
Thanks, Mark. For that, I'd like to buy you a pint of Argos. Edited February 4, 2020 by Ed Rooney 2
John Mitchell
As long as you've chosen the RAW setting, the a6000 will automatically look after the file format for you when shooting stills. I use AVCHD for video clips if you're thinking of experimenting with those.
