Ed Rooney
I asked about this before, but I don't think I had shown an image. These icons have been hanging all over Chinatown for months. I was able to find out that they are a sign of good fortune that should be shared with all. But I would like to have more specific information. spacecadet
You asked about them last month. I think Betty nailed it. http://discussion.alamy.com/index.php?/topic/7230-new-chinatown-nyc-icon/?hl=%2Bchinatown+%2Bicons
DDoug
It appears to be a variation on the good luck charm.http://roadtoparnassus.blogspot.de/2012/01/chinese-good-luck-charms.html"In America you will encounter the occasional lucky horseshoe or four-leaf clover, but in Taiwan good luck charms are truly ubiquitous. There are literally hundreds of different ones, and Chinese New Year is the time they are especially featured."There's a reference photo which is much closer, but it's on a competing stock agency site, so maybe better not to post the link here. Ed Rooney
Thanks, Don--interesting. And, Mark, I know all that but I'm looking for a bit more. Here you go, by the way. I've been saving this for you:
spacecadet
Thanks, Ed, very thoughtful. I was getting bit jaded, what with being on Champagne all evening yesterday. I needed a change.
