Jill Morgan
Does image number mean anything? From the time I bought my Canon, the image number has gone up by 1 every time no matter what SD card I am using. The Sony I bought yesterday started at 4351. Is this any idea of shutter count, or are these numbers able to be altered in the camera? Jill
IanGibson
I don't have my RX100 to hand, but my A6000 has the option to reset the image number. My guess would be that it is likely that 4351 approximates the shutter count. Most users would have no reason to reset the image number, but you never know. Matt Ashmore
My Nikon seems to count from 0001 to 9999 .. and once it hits 9999, it returns to 0001 again. To find your shutter count, you could use a website like: https://www.camerashuttercount.com/
Jill Morgan
So I figure I am fairly safe in the 4300 images that my Sony has taken. It is in pristine condition, hardly looks used at all. I should get lots of life from it. Jill
