Bill Brooks
I am getting ready to run the keywording marathon so have been cruising the web for a keywording philosophy. This article by Dan Heller has some good up to date advice, even though it was written in 2007. It is a long read, but worth your attention. http://danheller.blogspot.ca/2007/04/keywording-and-future-of-stock.html

It is a long read, but worth your attention. http://danheller.blogspot.ca/2007/04/keywording-and-future-of-stock.html Thanks for pointing this out. A long article but well worth a read. Thought the advice re intelligent keywording and use of precise stems was very useful but got the impression that everything is in a state of flux and is likely to become more and more automated as time progresses. Keywording is key but it is a drag and life is short! :-)
M.Chapman
Excellent thought provoking article. Thanks. But things haven't improved in the 10 years since this was written, in fact they have probably got worse. More images than ever and even more keyword spam. Hopefully Alamy's new keyword entry system and search engine will be step in the right direction. There's already some evidence that it's doing more than a simple a keyword matching search and is applying synonyms for itself.
