Rob C
I think the browny purple fungi may be a variety of Trametes, cannot find the other one in the books I have. Any of you specialist nature guys and girls help me out on these please? Thank you. m10-copy by Rob Carter, on Flickr m9-copy by Rob Carter, on Flickr

Stu
Hi Rob. I think the lower one is Piptoporus betulinus, commonly known as the birch polypore, birch bracket, or razor strop, is one of the most common polyporous bracket fungi and, as the name suggests, grows almost exclusively on birch trees. Not sure about the top one.Stu. Rob C
Thank so much guys. Because I have so much woodland so close to my house, I'm beginning the process of trying to learn and photograph some of the wildlife. I'll try to photograph the fungi from all sides to get better IDs.
Davey Towers
I believe the first one to be Blushing Bracket, (Daedaleopsis confragosa) and the second one to be Birch Polypore, (Piptoporus betulinus). Regards Davey
