Andy Holmes
I was wondering if someone with more knowledge of bird species than me, could help by confirming that this is a photo of a Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus),(or point me in the right direction). Andy Holmes
Sorry if the Alamy thumbnails are too small to help. How do I post enlarged ones ?
Joseph Clemson
I don't know enough to help for certain, but I'm sure that giving the location of the photo will help someone to ID it. Gran Canaria or somewhere else?

John Morrison
Common kestrel, I'd say (lesser kestrel doesn't have spots on back, if I recall)...
Rakesh
Ya ..Common Kestrel , based on the yellow leg colour . Lesser would have reddish coloured legs .
Andy Holmes
Thanks very much to John and Rakesh for the confirmations. I was happy enough to have identified it as some sort of kestrel, but I hit the jackpot (more by lick than judgement). Spots on the back and yellow legs are way beyond me.
