Rob B
Hi all, I’m new here based in Croydon in South London (or Surrey, depending on who you’re talking to). I’ve just had my first three pics approved by Quality Control. What do I do next?
Steve F
Hi Rob, Welcome. See: https://www.alamy.com/contributor/how-to-sell-images/how-do-i-get-my-images-for-sale/?section=2 Pretty much every question has been asked at some point in the Forum. Try googling first before posting (meant in a positive sense!). Steve
Joseph Clemson
1. There is a mountain of information you need to ingest to make it in the activity of Stock Photography, much can be found in the Alamy blogs and here on the forum. As a starting point read the How to sell images on Alamy blog pages. 2. Carefully read the Contributor Contract and understand what you are signing up to. It is of particular concern just at the moment as the new and more detailed contract comes into force on July 24th. In case you have missed it, a particular measure is that it reduces the commission to 40%. That further reduces to 20% if you don't make $250 dollars of sales in the first 12 months (look into this in a little more detail, it is significant, affects you, and I can't go into the detail of it here and now). 3. To get your first three images on sale you need to make sure the caption field is completed and you have at least five keywords (tags). Within 24 hours your images will then be available. It is advisable to do much more on each image in the AIM (Alamy Image Manager), some of which involves the Optional Info tab. As a minimum I wouldput in additional, accurate keywords, choose up to ten to be supertags, then complete the model and property release fields in the optional tab. Reading about how these two fields are used and completing them correctly is an important aspect of all the reading you will need to do (see point 1). 4. Take time to get things right from the beginning, it will save you much effort and heartache further down the line. 1
