  1. Hi despite having quite a few videos online with Alamy I have never sold one. Has anybody sold any video clips?
  2. I see that Alamy have rebranded the videos and have removed the pond5 copyright info from the contributor name. I still would like to know if anybody has made a sale of video ????
  3. Has anybody made any good sales of Footage on Alamy ? Is it still ONLY sourced from pond5 ? I have 69 clips here on Alamy taken from 200 odd at Pond5. I would like to submit directly.
  4. My videos have started appearing on Alamy which were originally submitted to Pond5, this is good news but are we going to have our own upload pages and what happens when pond5 is integrated with shutter stock..? Before I submit more material to pond5 what are this agency proposals for future video content? Getty has just sent out an email saying that in future they are only going to be accepting material to be royalty free video, not what I wanted to hear as most of my material is rights ready. Some clarification please Alamy, and what about PA video content? Is that online with the Alamy tag?
  5. Having been contributing for almost over 20 years I have now completely lost interest in selling stock images. My returns from images on Alamy (and others) are earning a pittance and I really dont know why I bother to look at the websites. I am lucky enough to be out in the island of Nevis in the Caribbean for the last 3 months where it is 28C and beautiful. I guess you cant win them all.
  6. I have just sold an image to French TV for 80$. The distributor pocketed 40% Alamy then pocketed 60% , I end up with about 18$. Distributors rate is much too high. Should be 20% max, and Alamy is taking too much as well ,50% of these low fees is more than enough. The Exclusive rate is really no value to professional photographers. We all know there is little benefit in being exclusive.
  7. I also wondered how many of the very creative arty type images actually sell? There are some brilliant pictures there but are they pictures that people want to buy commercially? Stock photography to me was always a source of images that people could not obtain by going out and taking the camera shots at the time that they needed the image i.e. if you needed a Snowscape image in the middle of July you went to a stock Agency to buy the picture. If you yourself submit lots of these highly creative images do you get a good sales?
  8. I wonder if they have been any improvement in sales generally to alamy after the new front pages came out. The computer must be able to monitor how many people are logging in and how many sales are being made it will be interesting to have this information Peter
  9. I cannot understand the business model that the big agencies are following by selling their/our materials at such stupid low prices. Its time for Alamy Getty Shutterstock to review their future plans and to substantially increase the cost of buying an image/ video for commercial /editorial use. I have just had sale to uk national newspaper for 8$ for a 2 million print run 1/4 page. A fair price would be around 50$. I have stopped uploading stills until a review takes place.
  10. Thank you to all of you for your kind words. Best wishes Peter
  11. Well I thought it was about time to have a little crow. Just sold a picture of Capri for $59, which brings my total sales value to $360,000. With Alamy since 2004 when you actually got some brilliant fees. I have about 5300 images ( not a lot ) but many good ones. I wish it was still worth travelling the world to shoot stock but as we all know it isn't any more. Happy days . Peter
  12. Why has there bean no updates to the original stuff from Pond5?
  13. Another month of ludicrous low sales prices. It is not worth putting any more effort into Alamy. When are the owners going to see that giving peoples images away for virtually nothing is not sustainable. This also applies to Getty and Shutterstock. When they allow photographers to set minimum prices the business may start acting responsibly. It no good saying that is all the clients will pay, you the agencies have offered these silly prices.
  14. this 60% commission is a rip off, for the amounts that sales are made for is completely unfair and just a benefit to the company bottom financial line.
