Allan Bell
Nope! Sorry you got me there. What is it? Joking aside I have looked through my small book on fungi but cannot find it. At first I thought "Funnel Cap" but not with that colouring I'm afraid. Fungi with similar colouring to your photo do not seem to take on that form. ??????? I would like to know what it is too. Christopher Price
Hi It could be Lactarius rufus, although it likes to fruit under conifers. Chris

By all means put it on site but call it a fungus or toad stool and leave it to them that know to apply a specific name. This site and others already have more than their fair share of inaccuracies.
