Amygdalic Images
Hello from Pittsburgh, I'm an amateur photographer and just starting out trying to sell my work. Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of license to assign which would be most appealing to someone looking to purchase. Income is secondary to gaining a little expose at this point. Thank you for anyones help.
Betty LaRue
I list most of my work as RM. I do have some as RF. those are the ones easily duplicated by yourself or other people. Think a lemon, an apple, and such. I'm hearing more and more buyers are liking RF, but those need model and property releases. If you don't have releases, then they must be listed RM because when prepping them in a Manage a Images, Alamy asks you how many people, if property release is needed, and if you have releases. You must be honest about this. When you tick the box that says you don't have releases when in fact you need them, the only option Alamy gives you is RM. A general shot of the sea or countryside doesn't need a property release. But if you have a barn or a boat in the image, you do. Others who are more knowledgeable than I may chime in about the distinctions. Betty
Alexandre Fagundes
Hi, I have been selling RF for a long time now in another agency. Just moved to Alamy and here I intend to sell only RM RF sells more for less, that´s it. If you have time to process a lot of images maybe RF is for you, if you don´t go with RM. In both you need the best quality you can get.

Thank you for anyones help. Welcome. This is a sales agency, most of the editorial images which are licensed are published without a credit, so no Kudos for the picture, and that won't pay the bills anyway. Brian Yarvin
I would like to suggest that you divide your images randomly - half RF and half RM - at first so you can get an idea of which works better for you. It's been my experience that different work will favor one license model or another in ways that can be tough to predict. Exposure is another issue entirely. Thinking that you can accomplish it through stock agencies is a major error. If you want to build a career in photography for publication, you'll need to do some serious self-promotion and without knowing what your goals are (beyond Alamy of course), we can't offer the sort of advice that would actually mean something. All that being said, welcome to Alamy.
