John Mitchell
Does anyone know what this flower is? I think it might be a yellow gerbera daisy. Thanks a bunch in advance.

John Mitchell
I'd look in the direction of Helianthus. Must be some kind of "sunflower" (about 70 species out there). Cheers, Philippe Only 70 species? OMG P.S. I don't think that sunflowers have the notched petals (?).
John Mitchell
John It looks like Rudbeckia hurt 'Prairie Sun' Best Tim Aren't the Rudbeckia centres much darker? This photo was taken in September, so perhaps the centres lighten late in the season. I'm not a gardener, so I don't know.
John Mitchell
These Rudbeckia do look quite similar to the flower I photographed. They have light-coloured centres and notched petals. Hmmm...

John Mitchell
John It just looks like its the Rudbeckia hurt 'Prairie Sun' at the end of the season, just starting to go over there best Tim I'm thinking you're correct, but shouldn't it be Rudbeckia hirta (not "hurt"). Marianne
The center looks like some sort of sunflower. I agree with Phillip and Tim as to where to start.
John Mitchell
I'm quite sure that Tim is correct. Rudbeckia hirta (a.k.a. black-eyed susans, prairie sun, gloriosa daisy, etc.) are very common in Vancouver gardens. The light-coloured centres threw me off. They are much darker earlier in the year. The forum comes through again. Many thanks!

John Mitchell
Maybe a variety of Sun Flower Helianthus nuttallii - Saskatchewan Wildflowers Thanks, but that one doesn't have the notched petals. I'm declaring late-season Rudbeckia hirta the unofficial winner.
