Alex Ekins
I'm wondering what the Stockimo rating is for? Does it affect ranking in the search results? Just curious as to why the Stockimo team would bother, it must take extra time.
Guest
Only used it briefly but IIRC, you have to have a rating of 2 to get the image passed. So it's simply a reflection of editors' ratings (I think there is more than one editor passing judgement) - leaving the rating in just adds to the sparkly bits for the user. Not so sure if that's the whole story. I think, that the rating does have an effect of where the images actually come up in search results. Some kind of weighted algorithm with rating, contributor rank, relevance, diversity, etc? -Jason edit: I am seeing different results when I put "stockimo" the contributor field as when I use it as a keyword search, but each time the first image of mine that shows in a relevance search is a (different) 4.0 rated pic. Anecdotal...
fotoDogue
The only thing I've noticed is that Stockimo uses higher rated images for their weekly "Wall of Greatness" When I've done a search they're sorted for relevancy or newest, depending on which button you hit. Alamy
Each image is reviewed by three editors and scored out of 4. An image must average over 2 in order to be accepted. The scores do not affect ranking however we may look at using the scores in the ranking at some point in the future. An update to the app will shortly be released that contains lots of exciting new features. We'll detail them once it's live. Cheers Alamy
