If a picture buyer were to look at your portfolio it might help, however I don't think they look at portfolios. The search engine results seem to indicate searches for subjects not photographers, however not all searches are recorded. 

Nice pictures though!

I think it is only useful to show to a potential client that you have made contact with yourself, particularly if you don't have a website, or if your website isn't focused on stock photography. You could otherwise give such a client a link to all your images such as the one from the number below your profile picture on here, or from your contributor name under one of your images on the Alamy search page which would give a link to just the images for that pseudonym (if you have pseudonyms) but the images that come up there aren't curated at all so the Portfolio page wins in that respect.
