A possible scam e mail

Can you help with something please 
A contact of mine has received an e mail from a company named PicRights saying that he has used an  un-licensed  image on his website and they are claiming payment on behalf of PA and Alamy 
Are PicRights an organisation that Alamy use for this purpose ?

Google this and you'll see it's genuine.

Unless he has a licence he'd be well advised to settle. If the amount is substantial there may be room for negotiation but he's unlikely to be able to avoid paying.

also less likely to be a scam if the contact does have an un-licensed image on his website, but he could contact Alamy directly to confirm.
