On the one hand if the iPhone exercise turned out to be a lemon they could just cast it adrift and walk away. On the other hand if it turned out to be a golden egg you could sell it on without splitting up or affecting a company you are personally invested in. I'm sure the dudes at Cupertino are/were aware of Stoc..., gosh nearly said it again. Ever wondered why Android never made it onto the platform? Of course, all my own views and I know nothing.
