Russell
Are there any entomologists out there who can identify this chap. On a sunflower in Hampshire UK. I think it's a mining bee of some sort but I'm really not sure. Thanks for your feedback. https://www.dropbox.com/s/9vm4pdniizbtljl/20180716-556A2814.jpg?dl=
Phil Robinson
The easy bit - it's a bee. Beyond that is quite hard, but I'd say maybe a species of Miner Bee - possibly the Hairy Legged Miner Bee - but identifying individual species is notoriously difficult
Russell
Thanks for looking Phil. Bee it definitely is, it's possible to see the two pairs of wings. I considered the hairy footed flower bee, but could not see the ginger hairs on the tarsal of the third leg. Any other thoughts?
