Amidst all the tales of jobsworths trying to stop us taking photos, here's how to appreciate the value of photography. Setting up to film the Christmas lights in Halifax (the Yorkshire one) with a friend, we were approached by a security guard who told us that it was private property and we weren't allowed to take photos. So we went along to the manager's office. "Hi, we're making a film that features Halifax and we'd like to get a few shots of the lights". "Oh, fantastic! Yes of course you can. I designed the lighting myself and anything that might get some publicity for it would be good for the town". NT and others take note.
