ernest
Any comment on Jimmy Nelson recent book on tribespeople "Before they pass away" ? ( Very) nice photography but it gives a distorted image of the tribal world in the XXI° century. But I suppose showing the real tribal life was not the aim. John Mitchell
I've only looked at the online photos, not the actual book. The ones I saw are striking images, but they were obviously carefully staged. In some cases, they are probably documenting ways of life that have already passed away. Images By Kenny
There were quite a few of the tribal people protesting the book. It seems there is some incongruency between the way he told them it would be done and the way it was done.
ernest
Tribespeople who accept to be shot don't bother what the photographer will do with the photos. What they want is money... I think those who protest have not understood what was the goal of the photographer. Raising the public awareness in favour of the tribespeople by showing beautiful images. Because what is beautiful generally helps to raise awareness.
