Camera not responding to helm, is it fatal?

Bryan

Question

Its happened twice now, my Sony a6500 switches on ok, all systems go, but the shutter won't release. Removing and replacing the battery has so far brought about a cure, but are things going to get worse?

I've just read some stuff published by Sony which implies that the locking up of the shutter may be related to the use of the self timer, which was the set up when my camera was last used. They suggest removing and replacing the battery, which is what I did.  Presumably it's a software bug that hasn't been fixed. So I need to remember to deselect the self timer after use.
