Atlantic Marine crustacean creature thing??

Possibly coral if hard (lots of different species and they'll only show themselves when underwater, not a crustacean but a polyp critter like a water hydra.   Or, if soft, a sponge, but those don't tend to last in surf long.

Thanks, they are quite hard. ie) you can press them and there is little give
