MMiller
I won't say where or how, but I overheard purchasers of educational textbooks discuss what they felt made books attractive. They like the beautiful photographs! In fact, what's the first thing most people do when they look at books? They are attracted to the covers, and then they flip through to see the illustrations. That says a lot for our industry, and the value of what we do, And a nice compliment too,
DDoug
When I look at what I used to get paid per word for writing versus what I got paid for photography, a picture was actually worth more than a thousand words in dollars. Since the advent of digital photography, the situation has reversed. The imagery is still the thing that draws the attention of the reader, if not the commensurate payment by the publisher.
