Using a V-rig for Still Photography

Recommended Posts

When my son moved out after college he left all his gear here for the moment.

I have decided to set up a little photo studio in one of my extra bedrooms since the kids have moved out.

Amongst his gear (which includes studio lighting, reflectors, straight track) is a v-rig and barn doors for taking steady video with exceptional focus. Since you need both hands on the handles of the v-rig, I was supposing I could try and use this with a cable release. He also has a counter weight, but man is it heavy.

Is this possible? Would it really help with camera shake on lower shutter speeds? I may take it out today and play around with it just for fun.
