Banet
Has anyone checked whether the rotational orientataion of the variable ND filter has any effect? It will be acting to a varying extent as a polarising filter - this might lead to reduced contrast by killing reflections off foliage etc. It could be used for killing reflections to some extent but not so great as cpl. DerekVallintine
Alan, I have a D300 and I put a Tiffen 77mm Variable ND filter on my 17-35 2.8 lens at 17mm. The results were good with full coverage throughout the images. No colour distortion or fringing but bear in mind the sun was hidden by clouds. But when I shoot in sunlight I get black blotches in the image that I can't get rid of. So my recommendation is to shoot on a cloudy day and you will get good images with good contrast and colour. I hope this helps Derek
