But (sorry I know it's off-topic to the original post) the TV licence is an historic anachronism. It will go. Hopefully in my (remaining short) lifetime.

This is a familiar BBC defence, But nonetheless it's untrue.

Quite a few other countries have one as well.

It doesn't seem too bad a way of paying for an impartial universal broadcasting service. Only my opinion of course.
