March 2018 Challenge: Without leaving the house (or garden).

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

The March 2018 Challenge:

A photo that was taken without leaving your house or garden.

No studio images: that would be cheating. ( I have one too.)

However an improvised one with a desk lamp on the kitchen table, or near a window is fine.

And while you're at it, why not include an image of the set-up?

Gardens are fine too, but just a portrait of a nice flower from one of you garden and flower specialists can also feel like cheating. Just like the in-house studio.

For people who cannot think of photographing anything inside their house:  you'll be restricted to a single room.

Not an original idea: it's from  ZAMM.

-  it works btw.

1-3 images each as usual.
This challenge will end on Saturday March 31 at midnight, 24:00 London time.
The winner will start the new topic.

Have fun!

I thought Wim would come up with something to get us to think

Moonrise sequence shot from my patio when we lived in Maria. Lounging in a comfy chair - camera remote in one hand, beer in the other. Photography the fun way.

Congratulations on your win.  Great idea, but I have too many to choose from!  That either makes me a lazy or opportunist photographer :)

Man on the street, having lunch in the sun, the restaurant is across the street and was in shade, so he carried over the table and chairs to the other side of the street.

Taken from 3rd floor balcony of my Frankfurt worktime flat.

I really regret I only had my 80mm on FF at the moment and did not take the 120-300 tele with me that week.

And the mandatory animal in the garden. I cut those branches two years ago and was waiting to take this picture - obviously this took some time for a squirrel to give me a nice pose.

Spooky and slightly disturbing. Good image though and I like the background furnishings.

Well done on your win Wim with a great image.  Three terrible images from me below. By terrible I mean cheesy.

No thinking required! (Does it really say that on the tin?)

What a bummer that must have been.

;-))

There is some nice reading stuff in that 1st link though.

Skip Thinking Photography.

However Right Brain/Left Brain Photography is still worth reading.

The last subject, I had nothing worth submitting. This time around, the problem is choosing just 3. Anyway...

The view down the street from the end of my driveway (put it on Favourite uploaded images thread a couple of days ago... I like it so....):

A picture of my gas hob that I took when I was bored one night which has sold surprisingly well:

I'm not very good at getting around to cutting my back lawn (should spend more time cutting it rather than photographing it):

Interesting, I did not feel it being spooky or disturbing but can see that it may trigger it, as no living persons involved.

Thank you!

Allan, I don't see any cheese in those, so they don't look cheesy to me.

I hope the teddies have signed model releases?

Yup! Teddies have signed releases for me in perpetuity. No I do not know where that is either.

Get out there and mow that darned lawn. Serves you right for going away so often.

Surely you are not past a bit of house painting yet?

#3 from me. I bought the calculator at about the same time ZAMM was published (1974). This image licensed last year.

Lighting setup was my clunky, long-necked IKEA desk lamp, which is the same vintage. Perhaps I should photograph it too.

Matt, sorry to you and all for posting this here, but since Alamy chose in their wisdom to remove the private communication channels within the forum, I figured that I might be able to get your attention by chasing up your most recent post.

You might want to adjust your image title here.  I think you may have forgotten to de-select the image while adjusting others? ;)

EDIT:  ...and while nosing around you port (couldn't help myself!) you might want to take a look at the (ironic) spelling error in your title here. :o:)
