Download Packs

Recommended Posts

I suppose it could bring a different customer to Alamy. There won't be an opt out from this.

So it's suck it and see, will have to consider restricting personal use.

It's a micro stock model, in 12 months time when we get use to it they will start to lower the prices!

You click on the option next to download on any main image page "save 50% with a download pack"

Interestingly, the option does not appear where the editorial use only box is ticked (ie, most of my portfolio). Wonder if this is linked to last weeks email on removing restrictions where they were not needed? All it prompted me to do was add them on some images which I had not yet dealt with. Another rethink on editorial use only needed?

Hi All

I didn't agree to discount my images time or skill this is ridiculous .

Prices are low enough already and sales few and far between .

Text book publishers are going to love this it won't be policed and buyers will get away with murder .

Large portfolio holders built up over years won't be happy,

I want to opt out of the Discount and also print sales as I print myself

Microstock by the back door

Could this ultimately attract new customers and increase volume of sales but negate pricing levels.

Not every image buyer is a download buyer.

Weird  I don't see that blue button.

Guess it's a regional test. Perhaps UK only, but not for mainland Europe.

Cheers,

Philippe

I don't have this button either. Australia here.

£180 for 30 pics, our cut is 3 manky quid.  Is this a temporary thing or permanent? These deals are usually brought in to raise a bit of quick revenue to sort out money problems, I hope i'm wrong

I argued this before and got shot down, the current business model is unsustainable, this was pretty predictable. I hope I'm wrong.

I wonder how we will get paid if someone buys a download pack? As the pack will apply to any images the customer wants from any contributor, we clearly won't get half the cost of the pack. So if they pay for a pack of 10 images for $100 (just an easy example), would we get $10 gross ($5 net) per sale from a customer who uses an image appropriate to the pack they purchased?

Of course Alamy continue getting interest in their bank account for the initial higher fee.

Geoff.

Yes Geoff they get all money up front and which PU customer wants 100 images they may never download all 100 so its win win for Alamy.
