Affinity Photo or Luminar?

Recommended Posts

Although I already have Lightroom 6, I'm looking for an alternative to Photoshop

I'm not adverse to PS - just wanting to use something that doesn't mind being used without subscription...

Any experience?

I don't have experience with either, but from what I read I'd say that Affinity is a PS alternative. Its making a lot of friends, especially as its not expensive. Luminar looks pretty good, but it seems to be a photo effects suite rather than a photo processing suite.

You could try Photoshop Elements if you don't mind sticking with Adobe.

I've never used anything else. It's cheap and does everything I want it to do. I can't even remember which old version I'm using.

Whilst I use CC and Lightroom at home, I use Elements v12 on my non-too-powerful laptop when I'm working out and about.

Does pretty much everything, didn't cost a lot either.

I bought Affinity Photo for Mac last night. I've been feeling a need for something new and shiny. I'm at the wondering around in the dark stage.

It's alright Ed you don't have to put the lights out to develop digital negatives. ;)
