Had my first last month and a few this month, not impressed, since I sometimes zoom on others' pics to see them better without any intention to buy.

When you zoom someone's image, or your own, it doesn't record as a zoom. The only ones that count are from registered buyers. If our zooms counted, it would be a cheating way to skew the numbers.

Isn't it only a proportion of buyers whose activities 'count' (the big buyers)? At least I've read that often here, though I accept that not everything said on the forum is accurate.

In this case it is accurate:

"Alamy Measures is a feature we have that tracks the search habits of a core set of customers."

That sounds good, John -- sales are lots better than zooms. We don't get paid for zooms or views or even a hefty CTR.  B)

Actually, my average for this year is skewed by a high (for me) number of sales last month. I think that one sale per 1000 images a month is still a pretty good indication of what to expect, assuming one doesn't have piles of similars and dupes. There are of course many notable exceptions to this rule of thumb.

I'm not sure how much I should care about zooms. I joined about half a year ago and made my first few sales in the meantime, but no picture sold was ever zoomed. And no picture zoomed ever sold.

Zooms from lightboxes don't show. Not sure how many clients use lightboxes. However when staff do the searching for a client, the results are presented in a lightbox.

When a sale goes through, it may be months since the initial zoom. I seem to remember the system can only link a sale to a zoom within 3 months. So when the sale is in 3 months plus one day, it seems to have been made without a zoom.

A sale will only be linked to a zoom with the exact same keyword. Says Alamy. However afaik a sale can only be made from the zoom page; hence there must always be a zoom?

Before many sales were zoomed by their Alamy ref #. These don't show up in AoA anymore; my guess is that they also are not counted if zoomed.

There may be more scenarios.

Like zooms not working ;-)

Does anyone know if IQ sales are zoomed? Do Stockimo zooms show up? Can one zoom in the app? Buy in the app? (I'm a Stockimo noob.)

Any other possibilities?

My CTR has been nose-diving since a high in February.  It is now the lowest it's every been.  Zooms are way down, more than they have ever been.  My best pseudonym is most affected.  It's a mystery to me.

I am no longer wasting my time getting excited over zooms, Seems a pointless exercise to me

I got a little bit excited about my 6 zooms yesterday; all on a subject with 39 images on Alamy, 25 of which are mine.....

Same pattern here. I have fewer zooms total this month than I often used to get in one day.

Cannot complain about zooms this month.

They were really low last month, about a quarter of Alamy average CTR, but this month (to date) it calculates to twice of the average CTR on Alamy.

Touch wood some of them turn into sales.

When I look at the past month compared to last month I'm down to just below average for my main pseudos which have been in the 0.8 to over 2.0 range the past few months, but when I change it to the past week, I'm actually between 0.85 to 2.86 for all my main pseudos and even my Editorial one. The only exception being the pseudo with all my European photos, which has taken a dip. My European travel pseudo had many zooms earlier this year with series of images being zoomed and even some by file #, but all my reported sales this year have been of American travel subjects. Hopeful those others will show up as sales soon.

I'm trying not to over analyze it and just steadily uploading new work.

My zooms are running at an all time high but it's hard to analyse any meaningful trend. I wish Alamy would open up all the available data to us.

They have the info. I currently have 165 images incorrectly set by me as exclusive, which cannot be changed as they are in customer light boxes and that

information came from member services.

Craig

+1

that would really be interesting information how many customer light boxes an image is in.

Suppose this may well affect ranking besides CTR.

Although I already posted in this thread to say my zooms were very low lately, things have now changed.

I've had 5 zooms in 2 days (never had that many before in just 2 days), all for one search that had only 5 results on Alamy. Shame the "Brooklands Lake" they were all looking for was a different one, or I would have made many sales from that too. Only one newspaper (as far as I know) actually used one of my "incorrect" images. It's certainly helped my CTR for May, and in fact for the whole year it's bumped it up to above Alamy's average, whereas I was below previously. A few other zooms in the past few days have also helped a lot. I know they are small numbers but remember my port is small, and my main pseudo only has about 2000 images in now. I seem to spend more time removing than adding.

Geoff.

Zooms picked up for me too over the past few days. Also had a couple of new licenses. Consequently, CTR has now "soared" above Alamy average from down-in-the-dumps.

My zooms also picked up in the last couple of days.  My CTR graph looked dismal for this month, with the lowest CTR in many months, but now that's all changed and it's the highest in months.  Shows what a couple days can do.

Same here too.

I've had a couple of days with 4 zooms each day.

Yesterday's 4 were strange though. In measures it said 4 zooms, but when I looked in detail I could only find 3 - don't know where the missing one went!

Zooms are down from last month but still running about average for me, while sales continue to trickle in at the normal rate. Zooms almost never convert to sales for me so I don't worry about them.

Was one zoomed twice John?

 Reimar,

No there were 4 separate zooms.

4 were recorded 'yesterday' but when I looked in detail I could only find 3 (just checked again incase I missed one). When I pressed on '4' in 'your zooms' there were the 3 recorded plus another one of something else.

Nevermind, I won't lose any sleep over it!

John.

I've always wondered about the cyclical nature of my zooms.  Here is my CTR for the last year:

I suppose the good news is that I can expect to be on the upward trend for the next couple of months.  No idea what would case this pattern.  Anybody else see the same?
