Can you imagine a better place on earth for a picnic?

Can you imagine a better place on earth for a picnic?

PICNIC ....?

I camped there 5 days (in 1995 / 2001 / 2006). Always in September 'cause no midges, good chance of seeing the Northern lights, snow starts to fall, lots of wildlife at their best in their thick winter coats.

Ah....! - nature and wildlife photography - hell of a job ...... but someone's got to do it  ;)

Cheers,

Philippe

I spent a few days near Kantishna - Wonder Lake and that was a real thrill, wandering through spongy tundra with such magnificent views!

This was a glorious day. One I will ever remember :). It gave the picnic some particular flavor!

Denali (also known as Mount McKinley)...

Not anymore. Which of course is causing the usual suspects' heads to explode over here. Thanks Obama.  :D

Nice photo, by the way!

Some images taken over the past spring and summer in our garden which is almost entirely populated by Midwestern USA native plants and wildflowers.

Thanks Mark but that didn't work so I dragged and dropped.  I'm on an IMac.

Ha, that selfie mania…

Caught Darth Vader taking a selfie this summer…

I thought he was "dead" or some kind of spirit but found him in really good shape!

We have a fox picturesquely sleeping on our lawn at the moment who is probably just as dangerous.

No chance of a photograph though because if I even think about opening the window he'll hear the electrons moving.

Rushbearing Festival in Sowerby Bridge. If only this had taken place in August rather than September, this one would have been my entry for Philippe's travel cover competition:

Mural in the Blind Pig, Sowerby Bridge. How to photograph a mural straight-on covering a long wall in a narrow corridor? One way is to use a fisheye and then de-fish it. Unfortunately the projection in the wall on the left confused the de-fishing algorithm a little so this is the best straightening I could get:
