Sometimes a wild stab at what seems the most likely keyword, is a good place to start, then selecting landscape or portrait cuts the results down abit. If there is a name credited, an advanced search of just that contributors photographs cuts it down. If its online dragging that image into image search (or right clicking and using google search, in chrome) throws up other uses including other listings in libraries, from which you can see the keyword used.

I use a MacBook Air, so for me I drag the photo to my desktop, then Command-I to view the metadata. Some buyers show the photograph ID in one of those fields (sometimes not always). Thanks for your help in finding and reporting Alamy sales.

Thanks for the advice York Photographer and Lisa. I'm afraid I don't have a Mac, and I'm also looking at the print edition. I've noticed that some images (including one of mine which I'm waiting to show as a sale) don't appear in the online site.

I did try a keyword search with the Richard Bloom image, and it no longer seems to exist. I don't understand how that can be.

A little tip for image searching (especially useful on the Guardian Website):  if using Firefox, right-click on the image and select 'view image info'. The 'associated text' will give you the alt text for the image, which in this case was 'Sex on laptop computer, pornography'.  Enter that into the Alamy search engine and (in this case) this image popped up first:

Sex_on_laptop_computer_Pornography-CERCA

...which is CERCAC by Artur Marciniec
