I am sure I am being thick, also that this must have been covered many times before, but can somebody please tell me how I upload an image to this forum, so that others can comment on it?

Many thanks

Stick it on a web page somewhere and use the Image button in the editor to insert the URL for the page.

Having just done it for the first time... above, you find the image on Alamy, double click on it then drag and drop it into the forum edit box... really simple! I only know because I asked a couple of days ago.

Thanks both. I will try and use Dropbox, see if that works.

Thanks for the info, Mike, will be very useful for the future but the image I want to upload is not on Alamy

Apparently the drag-and-drop method works on any image. I just tried it with a pic on my own website. For example, if you're using Firefox, open the image in one tab and the forum editor in another. Drag the image to the forum tab at the top of the page and Firefox will switch to that view, allowing you to drop the image into the editing box.

Very neat, and thanks Mike for highlighting that.

Rigger,

Many thanks for asking this.  I have asked the same thing several times before and can never remember how to do it.  I needed it a few days ago, but was overcome with embarrassment and couldn't bring myself to ask yet again.

I use Firefox but could not manage to drag and drop.

What I did this time was to click on the image as if I was a buyer, right clicked on it, clicked on "properties".   When "properties" box opened, I copied the URL.   Then posted in the image box here on the Forum.

Must try to remember this.

I have given you a greenie..

Thank you Peter, the greenie is much appreciated. However I haven't solved my own problem. Like so many others, I am suffering from sin bin-it is. Three times out of the last 4 submissions.

I am now so totally paranoid that I went through my last submission with the very finest of toothcombs - and still it failed! For the dreaded SoLD.

For the life of me, I cannot see anything wrong with the culprit image, so before I totally lose the will to live Alamy life as we know it, I was hoping to post it on here to see if anyone can tell me where the hell the fault is.

So drag and drop from Alamy isn't an option, obviously.

Have put the offending image into Dropbox, but now this pesky dialogue box won't let me paste in the link - or anything else for that matter.

I give up. Going to go and lie down in a dark room with a wet towel on my head

Many thanks

I couldn't, but Dropbox has an explanation how to copy url and place it.  Trouble is, there are a couple of options and I chose the wrong one, went back and got the right one eventually.
