way to download "All of Alamy" search terms for most recent year?

Recommended Posts

Just restrict the time span; download and combine in Excel.

However I don't think there's a simple way to download a result without a search term (of at least 3 characters): the Export to excel button is missing.

I'm sure you could build a scraper for that though. Or do it by hand.

As I said: There's no simple way to download a result without a search term (of at least 3 characters): the Export to excel button is missing.

Btw even with a regular search term, downloading the result just chokes the database, sending you to the kid with the binoculars page.

It probably helps to choose a moment with very low server activity.

got it;

noticed "Export to Excel" appears when using %-----%, too;

but not with %(a or e or i or o or u)% as a way to get most searches in an Excel;

pondering what word or phrase %X% might return most searches, then feed that Excel doc to ChatGPT
& tell it to only keyword with those words-phrases...

Using %-----% I don't see a result.

The only way a query of AoA can generate meaningful keywords in my opinion is to include a keyword that's known to be used by clients in a search for the subject in your image.

Clearly you will not find synonyms or alternative search phrases this way. Just usable phrases. (Mind you not correct ones either because clients can and will perform stupid funny searches.)

For finding synonyms we traditionally have a thesaurus. Luckily also online ones. Having to put every synonym in AoA becomes tedious and very time consuming very fast. (Ask me how I know 😁)

So ChatGPT would be an enormous help here. Provided you give it the right prompt.
A good prompt could be something like

Give 10 different descriptions of an image that contains x; y; z and where a; b; c is happening, using as many different words as possible. Maybe even include UK plus US spelling.

This together with a straightforward instruction keyword this image would give you many different keywords and key phrases. Is it quicker than thinking up keywords yourself? Will it result in more sales? Dunno.

Maybe ask ChatGPT what keywords future clients will use, using ChatGPT.

Could be the result will be one of the all Cretans are liars said the Cretan philosopher paradoxes though.

To clarify, by "-----" I meant 3 or more characters. e.g., below, which includes Export Excel link:
(if only I could instruct ChatGPT to, "add keywords to mine but never
any words-phrases NOT searched on Alamy in most recent rolling year...)
(even though its true new searches tomorrow will fit that description)

ChatGPT suggested some phrases which seem logical but weren't searched in year
& its time consuming to manual check one by one, e.g..
"shopping culture", "cafe atmosphere"

Yes I got the 3 or more characters. I used like %AMS% and %WAS%. And when I'm uncertain of what spelling clients will use something like %COLO%R%.

However I did try %   % (three empty spaces). Which does get you the Export button, but only with funny searches.

Trying to construct a dictionary of all words used on Alamy by clients would (if possible) get you just that: an incomplete dictionary. While you would want a dictionary of all words to avoid.

Have you tried using ChatGPT searching for images on Alamy?

My guess is that clients will use it to look for images, but without specifying Alamy or any other library. Maybe they will put in the prompt: and please find the cheapest.

Has anybody tried that yet?

wim

edit:  I just tried % % (one space) and it gets you all two or more word searches. All 25767 pages @100 for the rolling year.  No Export button though.

The same search on 1-4 Dec did get me the button. Aha so it's just a limit on the amount of results. My guess is that the limit is at or around 600 pages @100. Which is abot 8 days. It could very well also be a time limit on how quick the server is able to come up with the results. Meaning that it may well be limited to a fraction of that during Internet Rush Hour.

I tested "% %" & confirm 600 pages of 100 rows seems the Excel export borderline = 7 days worth...

But "% %" appears to omit single word searches from the results. Does that matter?
