I am a longtime contributor with almost 40,000 images on Alamy.com. We are halfway through the month of November, and I have not yet received my monthly payment from Alamy. Historically, Alamy used to pay me within the first few days of every month. Then, that stretched to about a week, and now we are at two weeks. I am curious to know if any other contributors are experiencing this slow payment?

Mine came through on the 13th, it’s usually around the 9th. Alamy’s timescale is very different from any other business!  Buyers are allowed 4 months to report a sale, we have to wait up to 3 months for a fee to clear. So that could 7 months from somebody using one of our images before we get paid. Crazy.

This is how it has always been in the UK. Large corporations are the worst offenders. This is why small businesses struggle to survive.

Hi Everyone,

We're aware some of you may not have received your payment yet, and we're very sorry for the inconvenience but are investigating the issue from our side.

Normally it can take up to 9 working days from when we start the payment process which is on the first working day of the month.

We’re aware that banks will also sometimes need to check payments for security purposes or screening from their side, depending on the country, and this can cause a delay.

However, we are currently checking the issue with our finance team and will post an update here.

Thanks

Sophie

Hi Everyone,

We're really sorry that some contributors didn't receive payment in the expected timeframe this month, but the payment was rejected by the individual bank. We're investigating with the bank as to why this happened.

In the meantime, we've reinputted the payments again and we expect that the money will go through to reach your account today, if you've not already received your funds. The majority of contributors were paid on time this month and only a small number have been affected.

Once again apologies for any inconvenience but email us if you experience any further issue with receiving your payment this month.

Thanks

Sophie

Strange that it should take Alamy more than 10 days to process a payment. I find it takes about 5 minutes at the most to do so. I wonder why the difference?

I wonder whether the "Finance Team" is A.I., as well as the "Infringements Team"?

Yes, no payment yet to my bank account in the USA

Hi Michael,

We understand it's a US bank account that's affected the payments for some, we're hoping that once US banking hours start, then payment should come through at some point for those affected later today.

Thanks

Thanks for the cowardly anonymous red arrow, nice to know that I struck home. I wonder whether it was the A.I.?

What’s strange, is that Alamy said there was a problem with a U.S. bank, but I strongly suspect we all aren’t using the same bank conglomerate.

I’m sure you’re correct. My bank is only located in 16 states, mostly in the southeastern US. There is definitely not a Kansas location.

And the bank I use here wasn’t available when I lived in Oklahoma. 🦨

Mine is a very small bank with only 3-4 locations but most U.S. banks use something called SWIFT (Society for Interbank Financial Telecommunications), so that could be where the problem was.  Just guessing...or it could be something not so well explained 😟

SWIFT???  LOL:lol:

Mine was actually a bit early this month, via PayPal. Canadian banks use SWIFT (not Taylor) as well.
