BBC Sounds - The Rise and Fall of Kodak

Recommended Posts

Living near Rochester, NY, during the late '70's to mid '80's, Eastman Kodak was the primary client of my first employer, an audiovisual production company, after college. I spent many days and weeks photographing much of the company's production facilities and processes. We produced a number presentations related to the Kodak Centennial celebrations. It was great fun. For a while, once I began free lancing, I was able to make a nice living doing work for Kodak. Unfortunately, it was short lived.

Linked worked for me here in NY - (several hours south of the Finger Lakes). Toast - what a great name for the podcast! About to give it a listen now.

Ironic that the folks who invented the first digital camera destroyed their own film industry and didn't even take advantage of what they had developed to take much of its place.

I think the first digital camera I used (3 or fewer MPs) was a Kodak - I was doing PR for a hospital & they had me use it for stuff I wrote for them. It was way before I got my first Nikon D70 - I was still shooting film at the time, so I could be wrong, but I'm about 90% sure it was a Kodak.
