geogphotos
https://www.geographyphotos.com/gallery/Derek-Armstrong/G0000DzUpbDXyIxo/3/C0000S3ijXnOmzNA Derek Armstrong, our photographer, has been in Leinz ( 5373IDM.JPG and 5374IDM.JPG) - you see his bicycle in the latter image. Then Tristach, Assling, Abfaltersbach, then 5378IDM.JPG ?????, and crosses into Italy at Arnbach So presumably 5378IDM.JPG ????? is between Abfaltersbach and Arnbach (5379IDM.JPG) It sounds easy but trust me I have tried and tried.... wiskerke
Here's your mountain. wim edit: and your church. Hmm maybe not. Too high above the village. Still, I think his route is one of the cycle paths there. Probably the one that runs along the train tracks. No steep climbs: it would have been my choice. Gervais Montacute
I spent 2 weeks skiing in Rinn is 1966 and it's definitely not Rinn although things change a lot over time. I remember going in to Innsbruck for a day and that will have changed enormously. Edited November 5 by Gervais Montacute

That sounds about right… you should caption the shot … “The Tyrol before mass tourism”. Wim’s id on the perspective of the mountain looks good and that suggests the village is San Candido Innichen. You get a similar perspective of the mountain skyline along this road… https://www.google.nl/maps/@46.7321365,12.2984515,3a,40.9y,260.65h,91.75t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sWaJLoKYzLR9sLyIQWoex4g!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fcb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26pitch%3D-1.7468544140954094%26panoid%3DWaJLoKYzLR9sLyIQWoex4g%26yaw%3D260.64996959181195!7i16384!8i8192?coh=205410&entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI0MTAyOS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D Which is the main E66/SS49 leading into the village from the east. But as Wim suggested, there’s a cycle track on the other side of the valley, away to the left, which might give a more correct perspective – but there’s no street view for that track. It’s called Via al ponte dei Corrieri. There is another cycle track away to the right hand side of the valley also. The original photo has the flat meadow to the left and what seems like gently rising ground going off to the right. This is true for the view from the main road on Google, but wouldn’t be true for the view from either of the cycle tracks in the valley. Like you said – it’s likely to have changed quite a bit.

I'm betting on Vierschach / Versciaco because of the single church and the shape of the church tower. I'm guessing the whole lift and restaurant complex obscures the best view. I suspect Innichen has been bigger for quite a while. I did not really research historic images though. wim 1
