0 NYCat
I can't answer your question, Edo, but I'm sure we crossed paths there. I went a lot. Paulette
0 Ed Rooney
This was what replaced Harvey's shop after he closed. I was working at People mag then, still trying to recover from Black Monday. A lot of celebs came into Harvey's -- I waited on Barbra Streisand, Terrance Stamp, Joel Grey, Richard Gere, Pia Lindstrom and most of the big name photogs of the day. 2

0 Ed Rooney
Thanks, zoomy. I had that piece once upon a time. I went to Harvey's wake. When I asked my question of the host, she got very angry at me.
0 NYCat
People used to be very reluctant to admit to cancer. There was a kind of stigma. Now we wear "survivor" T-shirts. A big improvement in our attitude. Paulette
0 Ed Rooney
Harvey did not die of cancer, Paulette. He had dementia and had moved into a care facility in N.J. about 2 weeks before he died. Physically, he was in good shape.
0 Betty LaRue
There is a death time stamp on dementia. As the brain deteriorates, it has a hard time regulating the body functions that keep us alive. When the tipping point happens, one is not too long for this world. Of course, you all probably know there are several types of dementia. Some move faster than others, with more devastating effects.

Two places are closing at the end of this month. One is a shoe store on Bleecker with unique shoes from around the world. He has been there for 31 years and he made it through Covid with help from the landlord but business has not come back sufficiently. Another is a gift store in Hell's Kitchen where I could fine unusual and beautiful Christmas gifts. They made it through Covid but some of their business came from business people on lunch hours but a lot of people work from home now and theater business hasn't helped yet either. 0 Ed Rooney
Yes -- he's okay but I didn't press for details. My friends in Tampa and Naples, Florida were lucky too.
