DACS statement- bit of a downer this year

Recommended Posts

Mine is down somewhat too. This doesn't surprise me, though, as I don't make many UK sales. Also, those I do make, I can't find. Perhaps I should have left it to Alamy.

BTW, I did leave my usual 20% (or whatever it is) tip for HMRC. It's the least I can do. 👑

I've been making many more UK sales the last few years but mostly to websites.

I tipped HMRC too - because the US government wants me to pay $80 every year so that they can collect their portion of it instead. I like to think my tip is benefiting UK artists and the UK National Health (I can dream, right?)

In my case, about 60% on last year. Ouch.

Only one or two new spots so presumably it's on a downward trend like stock prices. Ohwell.

I can only assume that it depends on the types of publications and their circulations. For the first time since I've been claiming via DACS for my direct (non-Alamy) publications I've added zero images. 2023's payment was £134, 2024's £127. Just magazines and books, no TV.

Unfortunately, these days, every man and his dog are getting wind of DACS and are applying for it which in turn is diluting revenue for everyone else.
