Live News print use

Recommended Posts

In The Times the rate is usually around $130-$150. This month I’ve had three reported at $67. If this is a new rate, then it simply isn’t going to be worth the work. I have emailed to ask why the rate is so different. Anyone else got the same?

I didn't spot this one at the time so I can't confirm which newspaper: "Media: Newspaper - national, Print run: up to 2 million, Placement: Inside and online, Image Size: Spot size" $67.34.

What is 'spot size'?

Maybe that's the reason for the lower fee? Sally, how large were your printed pics?

Two were relatively small but one was a third of a page - same size as ones I have previously received around $150 for. So unless that one is a mistake I can’t understand it. None of the three licenses includes the phrase ‘spot size’.

Did the licence terms state an image size?

That will be the rate for a print or print and digital use of non-live news for The Times or Sun. If it’s digital use only it was even worse .

Looking at my newspaper print sales there has always been an 'image size' stipulated, has Alamy now done away with that requirement or is it a glitch in the reporting process?

Saw this comment on another website about someone who had been sent a copyright breach:

" They responded saying their photos are much more expensive than Alamys' as they directly employ their own photographers." (Posted recently in Aug 2024).

Wonder if this is reason for low fees. Does this mean we are cheap? 🤔

Are they selling us as a cheap alternative? Seems an odd reply...
