Search for own name confusing

Sharon

Question

Hi everyone,

I went to the home page and on a private browser searched my own name.  Only a portion of my portfolio showed up. Why don`t all the images show like on my Alamy portfolio page?

Anyone have an answer?..

So, they don`t show like in the Alamy portfolio page where you can scroll down through the content.. they`re broken up according to filters.  I feel like I`m going down a rabbit hole... lol.. thanks, Michael.

It's slightly ambiguous but I've always assumed that the contributor contract forbids us to add our names to the keywords and I've never done so....

"4.2. You will ensure that all information provided by you.... (i) only includes information pertaining to the Content itself; and (ii) does not include contact details, web addresses, URLs,..".

What some do
select short “nonsense” tag
related to one’s name to facilitate easy recall
e.g., “Shxrxn” returns 0 images = no one else using it
place it as final tag for all of one’s images
now one can call up all of one’s images
or just all of one’s image per any given subject…
e.g., “Shxrxn (puppy or dog)”

I very much doubt that Alamy has ever policed or enforced that especially given how much content comes from third party agencies, museums, etc

Only about 7% of Alamy images were exclusive a few years back.

Hi Sharon, not sure about the reason for the confusion. Alamy search function is set up to show results to clients. E.g. no one wants my images to be coming in search results when they're searching for the comedian Stephen Frost.

If you want to see your images, you just filter the search results by contributor name and hey presto. But the easiest way to see your images is just to click on the number under your pseudonym on the left hand side of one of your Forum posts. Or using your Portfolio link.

Actually it can be quite useful to see your own images using the various filters, number of people perhaps, 'Editorial', etc. But if you just search under 'All' then the only filter that is applied is you as the contributor. Clicking on the number here is the easiest way as Steve says, and you can save a bookmark in your web browser yourself that way. You can also click on your name (or pseudonym if you use them) under one of your own images.

I was going to go on to say that if I searched for my name then none of my images would come up - but they do. I'd forgotten that in my brief spell in Live News your name is put at the end of the caption, 5 on the first page out of 30 pages, surprising though of no actual benefit to myself or anyone else. Lots of images of the Sci-Fi writer Harry Harrison and Debbie Harry if she happened to be with anyone called Harrison.

Edit: Actually just that distribution algorithm acting as normal.

Yes, I know I can just click the blue button on the forum to see my portfolio, or check the portfolio link. I  wasn`t asking because I want to see my own images, but was curious if someone I know who knows I`m on Alamy and wants to check out my portfolio without getting in touch with me. (In which case they MAY be clients)... curious minds... anyway, thanks for all who responded. 😁
