Back in 2017

Question

Just out of curiosity , when I started submitting photos to alamy in 2017 they had some 73 million photos available. Today they have some 233million photos available. My sales have been regular, so do they sell more photos than before, or I'm I just lucky to keep on making regular sales here.

You're behind the times, 378 million images. Good question. There's a lot of dross been added, and bad keywording and captioning to be fair. If you're regularly uploading and at least increasing your collection by a proportion equal to how much the Alamy image library has increased since 2017, it would make sense.

I remember back in about 2003 going to an Alamy meeting in London and James West being asked what will the maximum number of images will Alamy take? Would it be like 2 million? James replied 'there's no limit' He was damn right. Ha!

Not sure if it's luck. If you're continuing to make regular sales, then you must be doing something right.

My sales numbers remain consistent (I'm averaging 16 sales per month this year). However, I'm not nearly as motivated as I used to be when it comes to stock photography. I still really enjoy photography for its own sake, though.

Are your similar & sisters often superior?
Then you’re not just lucky,

You might be a stock photographer.
Are your Cinderellas & unicorns frequently unique?
Then you’re not just lucky.

You might be a stock photographer.
