Sales v what you actually get

Focuscapes

Question

This is my biggest single gripe about Alamy.

They like to seem to wave money in your face and then take it away again. What I mean is, in your dashboard they show you what your SALES figures are, never what you actually get... so I find myself having to manually work it out.

It's not difficult to do this, but compared to other agencies it's a pain in the proverbial. Why, as contributers, would we care how much we are making for Alamy? We just want to know how much we are making for ourselves.

Many thanks and regards

SG.

I do find it annoying that there's no stats on what you earn, I totally agree. I suspect it's historic - Alamy's been around for a bit and the original split was 80 / 20 in favour of the contributors..... These days, I think it would be depressing seeing your net sales figures 😅🙈

Click on 'Download Sales Report'.

This gives you the gross ('Sale' heading), Deduction and the crumbs paid to us ('Due' heading).

Took me a while to find this but it's all there.

Well yes, but there's no overall subtotal? You have to manually fiddle with the Excel file I think.

What Tony said but just to add (forum regulars will know this) use the drop down boxes to change to the current date and the Date Paid box to change to Date Of Invoice. You can then see latest sales the day before they update on your main dashboard (including exactly what your share is). No need to download anything - that's just an option.

Personally, I like the honest and transparent way Alamy shows you the total value of sales to customers - not something you get most other places (where you just have to hope your share is paid correctly). But that's just me!

This used to be necessary, but no longer - both Account Balance and Sales History now seem to update in real time

Yes, I noticed that these update in real time about a week or two ago... which is a step in the right direction!

Not sure how " real time " it is, a friend liked one of my photos enough to buy as a print. It's already hanging on her wall yet nothing from Alamy.

By "Real time" we just mean that when Alamy enters the sale on the system it now appears in our Account Balance and Sales History on the same day. Previously it wouldn't appear until the next day.
