Uploading stalls after first image

Recommended Posts

Trying to upload a small batch of images, have been trying since late last week. First image uploads then nothing moves after that. I've let it run for the better part of an hour, no progress. I have cleared my cache, tried different browsers, checked file sizes, logged out and back in, with no luck. I have seen slower upload speeds before but nothing like this in my many years of contributing to Alamy.

Is this a currently known issue? Any recommended work-arounds?

Nope, no QC fails lately. Uploading through any browser to other services I use has been fast and reliable as usual, with Alamy it is almost like I can only do a browser upload of one image at a time.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try the FTP option.

I have found the site as a whole quite slow at times, over several weeks.

When submitting I use FileZilla, which is generally pretty speedy (depending upon the internet connection).

Hope you soon get those images uploaded !

I've had a similar problem with uploads - happens once every few months.

It just seems to have an unexplained objection to a particular file in the upload. The only work around I have is to omit the file it stalls on, from the upload. Usually it accepts the rest of the batch without any problems.

I have tried editing the rogue file, changing its size, changing the order of files in the upload, changing its name etc but it still won't upload. I just omit it from the upload batch and hope it doesn't object to any oyher files.

I've wasted hours trying to get a work-around and have concluded that it's not worth the effort - just forget about the dodgy file. Life is much easier that way.

Sandi, I get the same sometimes. It has been suggested I try uploading using Chrome instead of Firefox as a workaround - haven't tried that yet. I normally just switch to FTP.

Similar problem.

When I have Nikon D850 images + Sony Rx images. The Sony Rx images go through no problem using Safari or Firefox, but not D850s just the spinning wheel. I tried deleting cache / re started etc as suggested by Alamy tech guys - problem still there. I now send D850 and Sony Rx images either together or as seperate files via FileZilla with no problems.

So funny how a person can read a line wrong. When I first read the title of this thread, I wondered how one could upload stalls. Only for a second or two, but still…😁

Me too 😂 (I was thinking maybe it was a new term for something ... ).

It’s the difference in meaning between the words “uploading”, a verb, and “upload”, a noun, that got us.
