Granddaughters images.

Tom Cassidy

Question

My daughter just advised me that her now 16 year old daughters image appeared when a friend randomly searched for "cute 10 year old girls". She seems a little concerned that her daughters image appears. I tried to to explain to her that this will happen. I don't know if removing one or all images will allay her concerns, but is this something to be concerned about?

Hi Tom,

You weren't quite clear about what has happened. If some random contributor on Alamy has images of your granddaughter up, then you can't really do much about it, unless they're illegal. If you have images of your granddaughter up and it's causing family friction, tbh, I'm not sure why you're asking what to do about it! Take them down now. I always ask friends and family for permission before I put images of them up on Alamy. Family children even more so. Why risk upsetting relationships?

Steve F... In reply to your response. A young girl who is a friend of my granddaughters was browsing the web for "cute 10 year old girls" found, among numerous other 10 year  olds, my granddaughters image popped up, watermarks and all. You are right about removing them if it causes family issues. The granddaughter is now 16. All the images are MR. But as you rightly said, take them done. Probably my only option.

Another line of thought:
ask Alamy to remove image immediately (explain)
was “cute” or similar in keywords?  If yes remove;
ask daughter granddaughter if ok with modified keywords;
ask if chance for “recognition” via being published desired
(some dream of  being "model" & this is as close as most would get...?)
maybe this generation rejects modeling...

It's annoying to take pictures down, but the chances of any one image licensing is fairly low normally, so I wouldn't worry about it.
