LarsMadsen
Hi all, Just had a sale (non-exclusive image) where the Alamy comission is 80%. It was not one of those strange micro-sales either. I think that is the first time I've seen this high a comission. Is this new or have I just paid too little attention?
Martin L
If you are in gold then it is probably a distributor sale. They take their cut and then you get 60% of what's left
Robert M Estall
imagine the motivation if 20% was your normal cut.
NYCat
If you go into Account Balance you'll see if it is a distributor sale. If you look at Account Overview at the top of the Dashboard you'll see your commission model. Paulette
Michael Ventura
To see my Commission Model, I have click on Account Settings on my Dashboard. It is in the lower right of my page.
NYCat
Strange. I guess our Dashboards don't all look the same. Towards the top I have two tabs... The usual one open is Overview and the other is Account Settings and has my info about Commission Model, etc. Paulette
LarsMadsen
Thank you all very much for your kind help. Sorry I was so slow in replying. It's not a distributor sale but I see that I am "silver" which definitely does not mean gold in this case 😄 I guess Alamy recently decided it was not worth keeping me anymore 🙂
NYCat
So sorry to hear you are silver. A couple of people here have managed to get themselves out of silver. You have lovely pics. I hope you will keep trying. Paulette 1

Paulette Thank you very much for your kind words. 🙂 It seems a bit unfair to first be loosing almost all sales due to relocation in the search results and then have almost all of what little remain being charged in commission by Alamy. Oh, well. I'll survive it I guess. 😄

Mr Standfast
You could always ask for a portfolio review... There's some potential in your portfolio, more than some I've seen.

I am about to go to silver in a couple of weeks unless a bunch of sales come in and save me at the last minute. I think if you love doing photography it helps keep the motivation going. 1

Thank you so much for the kind words. Turns out photographing obscure insect species is not a gold mine after all as I had hoped. Sometimes no photos are available of a specific subject because it doesn't make sense economically to try to make one. I learned that much too late 😀 Fingers crossed that you will have the required sales to avoid silver (which would be more aptly named "lead" layer or something like that.
Jill Morgan
I got stuck in silver for almost a year. Once you get over $250 gross in sales you will jump back up to gold. With the low fees these days, tougher than it used to be. Jill 2
Jacek
80% comissin is "silver" for Alamy , for contributor is "steel scrap". I dont have too much pictures and after 2 years NO sale till now. This is not problem for me but from time I am " silver" I deleted more than 50 my best pictures . Edited August 29 by Jacek
