Steve F
Ian , interesting, thanks. I have 879 sales total since I started. Haven't done the math, but I know a fair few are repeat sales, so the majority of my portfolio is just sitting there gathering dust. Similar experience to you, holiday snaps can often be for better $, but most never license.
Jeffrey Isaac Greenberg
Thanks for link; subject matter I’d never considered !! although with me mostly urban explorations don’t remember seeing exposed “soil profile”… possibly sides of exposed rural roads in USA… tagging will be a struggle…

I guess the challenge is, in other contexts, to be able to identify the equivalent of the 4 'repeat winners' bringing 45% from the 280 'occasional winners' and 'also rans' that never win Edited August 19 by geogphotos

Some of my $$$ sales have been very boring images of things you wouldn't even bother taking images of normally. My highest $$$ image: Twin canal locks with lock gates and green algae in the water, just off Limehouse Basin in London, England This was a one off, never licensed again. My repeat sellers are more 'normal'. Edited August 19 by Steve F

I think I deleted about 12. We three at least have decent ranks, so it's worth putting out images even with a lot of competition. That said, the good ones still usually come from a niche. Of my best 4 this year, two have less than 100 of the subject on Alamy, the other two are just me. Competition is rarely a consideration for me unless my images are a bit average- dull days usually go in the bin.
